About this work
Although not verifiable in Inventory C of 1772, the panel is said to come from the Museum Faesch; it has long been localized in Basel. Paul Ganz recognized in 1924 the close compositional connection with a series of drawings on woodblocks for an illustrated Terence edition in the Print Room of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Inv.
