About this work
Caspar Wolf painted the magnificent panorama of the Lauteraargletscher twice. A nearly identical version, signed but undated, is located in the Kunsthaus Aarau. It features slightly different figures: while two figures are depicted on the crowning boulder there, the group here is expanded by a third figure, the sketching painter.
