On the canvas reverse, a note is affixed with the following handwritten text by Heinrich Miville-Krug: "Portrait / Of my dear mother see[ling] born Ao / 1766. on St. Urban's Day [25 May], died d[en] 21 Dec 1828 / aged 62 years. Her parents were Herr / Leonhard Lotz the silk dyer (member / of the Great Council and supervisor of E. E / Society of the Rebhaus) and Frau Salomea Geymüller, only child!
