About this work
In 1440, the Basel Zeughaus (later "Kornhaus") on Petersplatz was completed. The ground floor, where heavy artillery was stored, received a wall painting decoration in three short campaigns starting in the 1440s. This developed as a frieze and had the task of structuring the wall and marking the locations of the artillery.
