About this work
The coat-of-arms pyramid of the central field supported by lions is framed by a ring of the inscribed coats of arms of the 39 offices and bailiwicks, which belonged to the countryside of the Canton of Bern in the year of foundation 1575. Scheidegger identified the round pane as a gift of the canton of Bern to a member of the von Roll family in Basel, mentioned in the Seckelmeister accounts of 1575.
