About this work
The coat of arms of the married couple is accompanied by the four Virtue allegories of Justitia, Prudentia, Fortitudo, and Temperantia in the corner fields. The two cherubs above the arch lintel are later additions; according to Ganz 1966, they are "typical products of Jörg Wannewetsch II." In Bern, a drawing has been preserved which Ganz identified as a copy by Hieronymus Vischer after the lost window design for the alliance window (Historisches Museum, Wyss Collection, VI. 19, Inv. 20036.513).
