About this work
Exterior panel separated according to the identical board division from Inv. 643 (Esther before Ahasuerus). Left panel from the upper register of the left exterior wing of the Basel Mirror of Salvation Altarpiece, which was probably painted around 1435 for St. Leonhard in Basel. Stylistic comparison with the completed and signed Peter Altarpiece in Geneva from 1444 makes the authorship of Konrad Witz highly probable. His plastic figure style and virtuoso handling of light and shadow are unique at this time...
