About this work

Exterior panel separated according to the identical board division from Inv. 642 (Sibbechai and Benaja). Left panel from the lower register of the right exterior wing of the Basel Mirror of Salvation Altarpiece, which was probably painted around 1435 for St. Leonhard. As a secondary patron saint, the collegiate church was the only one in Basel dedicated to St. Bartholomew. The panel preserved in Dijon (Musée des Beaux-Arts, Inv. D 161 B) from the left wing with a standing bishop, possibly Augustine, also fits...
