About this work
Right panel from the upper register of the right interior wing of the Basel Mirror of Salvation Altarpiece, which was probably painted around 1435 for St. Leonhard in Basel. Stylistic comparison with the completed and signed Peter Altarpiece in Geneva from 1444 makes the authorship of Konrad Witz highly probable. His plastic figure style and virtuoso handling of light and shadow are unique at this time along the Upper Rhine.
