CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – On Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, space shuttle Atlantis, attached to its external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters, towers above the surface of the mobile launcher platform on which it is secured. From the top of the platform to the tip of the tank is approximately 184 feet. Atlantis' first motion on its 3.4-mile trip from the Vehicle Assembly Building was at 11:31 p.m. EDT April 21.
