About this work

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- The morning sun spotlights Launch Pad 39A and Space Shuttle Discovery atop the Mobile Launcher Platform. To its left is the Rotating Service Structure in its open position, at the top of the ramp that the Shuttle must negotiate on the crawler-transporter. Above Discovery looms the 80-foot fiberglass lightning mast. At the far left is the Vehicle Assembly Building, where a Space Shuttle begins its voyage to the pad.
