About this work

Kennedy Space Center, Fla. — A large alligator suns on the bank of a pond within NASA's Kennedy Space Center. A protected species, alligators can be spotted in the drainage canals and other waters surrounding KSC. American alligators feed and rest in the water, and lay their eggs in dens they dig into the banks. The young alligators spend their first several weeks in these dens. KSC shares a boundary with the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
