CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- On Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the STS-124 crew gets safety instructions for using the slidewire baskets to exit the fixed service structure in the event of an emergency. Crew members from left are Mission Specialist Akihiko Hoshide, Pilot Ken Ham, Mission Specialists Greg Chamitoff and Ron Garan, Mike Fossum and Karen Nyberg. Not seen is Commander Mark Kelly. Hoshide represents the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency.
