SAN DIEGO, Calif. – On board the USS Salvor, a safeguard-class rescue and salvage ship, U.S. Navy personnel monitor the progress as a stationary crane lowers the Orion boilerplate test vehicle into the Pacific Ocean during Underway Recovery Test 4A. NASA, Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy are testing crane recovery operations to prepare for recovery of the Orion crew module on its return from a deep space mission.
