KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. -- In the still-dark early morning hours, Space Shuttle Discovery is illuminated by the xenon lights in the foreground, where only slivers of light can be seen from behind. The scheduled launch at 8:05 p.m. Oct. 9 is the second attempt after an earlier scrub. The Shuttle is making the fifth flight for construction of the International Space Station.
