About this work
Hawaii's Kilauea volcanic eruption continues after seven weeks of continuous outpouring of lava over the northeastern part of the island. More than 6,100 acres of the Big Island have been covered with new lava, destroying hundreds of homes. At the same time, new land has been created as lava filled Kapoho Bay at the ocean. For some time, the activity has been confined to a leveed channel flow, that starts from the active-most vent, and makes it way 8 miles (13 kilometers) to the ocean.
