About this work

Gallon-size circular basin or bowl with narrow flat rim, rounded tapering sides and flat well; no foot ring. Partial, faint marks on underside of well include possible touchmark of a ducal coronet with element below and secondary marks of a crowned Tudor rose to right and traces of letters in a curved banner below. Probably used as an eating bowl or as a waste or slop bowl when serving tea; larger basins functioned as wash basins.
