About this work
Edison bamboo filament incandescent lamp, ca. 1880. Wooden-mogul base with brass screw-shell and contact-ring. Single arch bamboo filament with platinum clamp connectors, two-piece leads, cork insulator. Ball-tipped, pear-shaped envelope. This base represents the third major style used in the development of the Edison lamp-base. Label #1: "109 1/2 v." and "19". Other marks illegible. Label #2: "Edison's Earliest Type of Bamboo Lamp with First type of Screw Base And Socket - 1880".
