Rectangular writing table decorated in black lacquer in maki-e and inlaid mother-of-pearl with a decoration diagonally across the surface of a fence in strips of mother-of-pearl, gold, silver, shakudō (copper-gold alloy 赤銅) and lacquer, with flowering leaf branches of the bottle gourd plant (yūgao 夕顔) over it and rocks in the front right with detailing of inlaid gold and silver leaf, on the legs a block motif. Silver borders around the legs and along the edges of the surface silver mounts with a diamond-shaped stylized flower motif (hanabishi 花菱) on a background of fine dots (nanako 魚子). The bottle gourd plant yūgao refers to the character Yūgao from the eponymous, fourth chapter of The Tale of Genji (Genji monogatari 源氏物語). Wooden storage box.
