About this work

From 771 BC China was divided into warring states. With outward display every ruler emphasized his own power: the bronze from this so-called period of Warring States had to be richly decorated. The molds in which the bronze was cast were provided with repeating motifs using stamps. Thus easily impressive series of identical pieces could be made.
