About this work

Stoneware teapot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, S-shaped spout and C-shaped handle, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, black and gold. On the belly a crane with bamboo and a silver heron with reeds by the water; above, clouds. The shoulder with a band of lacework. On the handle scrollwork and loose flowers; the spout with a stylized leaf. The foot with a band with a meander pattern. The overglaze decoration is possibly of later date. Kyoto Satsuma.
