About this work
Egg-shaped porcelain box with lid, painted overglaze in blue, red, green, yellow, aubergine and black. On the body three large, scalloped cartouches with a woman carrying a yoke on her shoulders. Hanging from the yoke are two flower baskets. Above the cartouches a band with leafy scrolls. Between the cartouches scalloped triangles with napkin work. On the shoulder a band with napkin work interrupted by lobed cartouches with treasures (books). On the neck a band with lotus scrolls. Marked on the underside with an unidentified seal mark. Kutani.
