About this work

Octagonal, egg-shaped lidded jar of porcelain, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, purple, black and gold. The body is covered with peony branches against a background of a spiral pattern. On each of the eight sides a recessed, scalloped cartouche with alternating flower branches (peony, chrysanthemum, aster, prunus) by a rock or one or more persons on a terrace or in an enclosed garden with blooming plants and rocks. The neck with napkin work alternating with lobed cartouches with deer or birds by a peony plant. Around the foot a decorative band. Lidded jar is part of cabinet set AK-NM-11497. Famille rose.
