About this work
Octagonal lid of porcelain, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, purple, black and gold. Covered with peony branches against a background of a spiral pattern. On each of the eight sides a recessed, scalloped cartouche with alternating flower branches (peony, chrysanthemum, aster, prunus) by a rock or one or more persons on a terrace or in an enclosed garden with blooming plants and rocks. The rim with eight compartments with blooming plants against a background of blue frogspawn. Lid knob is in the form of a shishi (lion dog). Lid knob is not original. Lid is part of cabinet set AK-NM-11497. Famille rose.
