Plate with a portrait of Petrus de Wolff

Plate of porcelain, painted on the glaze in blue, red, black and gold. On the flat a scene of a young man with a rifle resting on the ground in his left hand, Petrus de Wolff. To the left of the young man a dog is depicted looking up at him. They are in a wooded environment, with a house in the background. On the wall floral scrolls in blue enamel alternating with floral scrolls in red and gold in cartouches; in the cartouche at the bottom of the scene an inscription can be seen 'PETRUS DE WOLFF PETR FIL'. The border with four floral scrolls and a band with floral scrolls. The scene is painted after a print by Pieter Schenk (1660-1711). Schenk made the engraving after a mezzo-tint by John Smith, who in turn was inspired by a painting by Willem/William Wissing (1656-1687). A crack in the border.
