About this work

Porcelain plate, painted on the glaze in blue, red, green, yellow, purple, black and gold. On the flat surface a representation of the Crucifixion; on the rim a decorative band with leafy scrolls in the style of Viennese Du Paquier porcelain. On the back an old label with 'King-te-tching (Chine)/ 17-18me siècle/ à l'usage du Chinois convertis'. Representation based on an engraving by Jan Luyken (1649-1712). European representation in enamel colors.
