About this work

Porcelain plate, painted on the glaze in black and gold. On the flat surface a depiction of the Crucifixion; on the rim a decorative band with leafy scrolls in the style of Viennese Du Paquier porcelain. The depiction is based on a print by Jan Luyken (1649–1712). European representation in encre de Chine.
