About this work

Octagonal coffee pot of porcelain on three spherical feet, a tapering body with straight walls and C-shaped handle, painted in underglaze blue. The long spout is at the end bent outwards and on the top side with an S-shaped element connected to the body. The wall is divided into two parts. The underside with a continuous scene of a hunting party in a landscape. The top side consists of a wide, decorative band with scrollwork, shell motifs, lacework, flower tendrils and two cartouches with therein the mythological scene of Europa and the bull. The spout and the handle with decorative bands; the top side of the handle with a hole for a mount. The underside of the pot with a worn, painted (European?) decoration of flower tendrils and medallions. The lid with the same decoration, but then with a putto in the cartouches. Lid knob in the form of a shishi (lion dog). European form and scene in blue and white.
