About this work

Octagonal porcelain coffee pot on three spherical feet, a tapering body with straight walls and a C-shaped handle, painted in underglaze blue. The long spout is bent outward at the end and connected to the body at the top by an S-shaped element. The body is divided into two parts. The lower part features a continuous scene of a hunting party in a landscape. The upper part consists of a wide decorative band with scrollwork, shell motifs, lacework, flower scrolls, and two cartouches containing the mythological scene of Europa and the bull. The spout and handle have decorative bands; the top of the handle has a hole for a mount. The underside of the pot has a worn, painted (European?) decoration of flower scrolls and medallions. European form and subject in blue and white.
