About this work

Cylindrical box in porcelain on three feet, shaped like a cricket cage, held together by three modeled cords ending in an upright knob as a lid knob. Painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze in red, green, yellow, and black. The lower half of the box with waves, birds, and flowering branches; the upper half is modeled in lattice work with a flowering vine in each compartment. Imari.
