About this work

Square porcelain flower pot or vase on spreading foot and flaring body, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, green, yellow, purple, black, and gold. The body covered with reticulated work containing irregularly shaped cartouches with figures on a terrace before a pavilion or three birds on a branch; on the foot scrolls with a carved-out cartouche containing birds and plants. Matching separate plate on top with five holes for loose flowers, decorated with flower branches. Contemporary silver handles. The plate has been broken; a crack in the vase. European forms with Famille rose/Mandarin.
