About this work
Covered porcelain bowl with ribbed wall and lobed rim, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze red, green and gold. The outer wall of the bowl is divided into four compartments with alternately a flying or standing hoo-bird and flower vines; around the foot four times a flower or fruit branch. On the bottom an enclosed garden; the inner wall with three flower or fruit branches (finger lemon, peach). On the inner rim a band with flower vines. The lid with the same decoration; with a ring-shaped knob and lobed rim. Gold Imari.
