About this work

Lid of a porcelain lidded bowl with ribbed wall and lobed rim, painted in underglaze blue and on the glaze in red, green and gold. The outer wall is divided into four compartments with alternating a flying or standing hoo bird and flower scrolls; around the foot four times a flower or fruit sprig. On the bottom an enclosed garden; the inner wall with three flower or fruit sprigs (finger lemon, peach). On the inner rim a band with flower scrolls. The lid has a ring-shaped knob and a lobed rim. Gold Imari.
