About this work
Depicted on these bottles are various scenes from the legends of the Novels about the Yang Family Generals. Women play an important role in the stories. For example, after all the men have been killed, the matriarch of the Yang family calls on the twelve remaining widows to defend their homeland. The bottle on the left features three female warriors on horseback.
