About this work

Porcelain kendi, painted in underglaze blue. The kendi is modelled in the form of a dragon rising from the waves with spread wings and covered with a lotus leaf; the neck and head of the dragon form the spout; the neck is divided into three bands with hanging, pointed leaf motifs, scalloped compartments with napkin work or floral scrolls; the raised rim with hatching; around the foot a band with scrollwork. Ming blue-and-white porcelain.
