About this work

Roden kettle on a brazier, with an S-shaped spout, flat lid with lid knob and movable, modelled brass handle, wrapped in rattan. Painted on both sides with ladies in a landscape: one lady is accompanied by a child and two maids carrying a wrapped lute and a basket respectively. On the other side, a lady sits at a table with a child holding a pomegranate at her knee; a second woman plays the flute and a third woman stands at the table preparing the censer. Around the shoulder, an ornamental band with guilloche work. The brazier has three curved legs and shell-shaped feet. In the rim, between the legs, three large volutes. The rim and legs are painted with floral scrolls. Inside the brazier, an oil reservoir with a lid (marbled).
