About this work

Porcelain cup with straight walls widening upwards, painted on the glaze in blue, red, pink, yellow, black and gold. The outer wall features the crowned arms of Vincent de Gournay (1676-1743) and Marie-Françoise Séré de la Ville-Materre (married 1711) surrounded by blooming peonies, a butterfly and a bird on a branch; the rim is decorated with a band of lacework alternating with floral scrolls in cartouches. Two chips in the rim. Armorial porcelain.
