About this work
Porcelain plate with round, ribbed body and scalloped rim, painted in underglaze blue. On the flat a hunting scene with two armed riders in a landscape, hunting a hare; the rim with a linked band of lotus scrolls, between which the eight auspicious symbols (chakra, shell, parasol, canopy, lotus, vase, fish, endless knot); the back with sixteen loose flower branches. Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Rim slightly damaged. Blue and white.
