About this work

Bottle-shaped vase (knobbed bottle) of porcelain consisting of three globes, long neck with thickening and flaring rim, covered with a café-au-lait glaze and painted in underglaze blue. The lower two globes are covered with a brown glaze alternating with three cream-colored bands; on the upper globe in blue three connected cartouches with floral scrolls in reserve; the neck with floral branches, butterflies, and insects; the rim with a band with leaf motifs. Two chips in the rim. On the underside an old label with: Friends of Asian Art. Monochrome brown with blue-and-white.
