About this work

Octagonal porcelain bowl with lobed wall and scalloped rim, painted in underglaze blue and red. The bowl is covered with bleu poudré (powder blue), the wall is modeled in eight compartments with on the outside each a rectangular cartouche in reserve with flowering plants and butterflies; on the base a cartouche with bracket-shaped border in reserve filled with flower branch and butterfly. Marked on the underside with the six-character mark of Emperor Chenghua in a double circle. Underglaze blue with copper red.
