Model of a pagoda

Model of a pagoda. The saddle-shaped basement is decorated with an incised honeycomb motif. The actual miniature pagoda consists of four stories ascending gradually decreasing in size. Each of the four square stories is provided with a window on all sides and is covered by a stone slab in the form of a sloping roof. The other side of these stone slabs has a decoration imitating the purlins of a wooden pagoda running to the lower roof edge. On the roof of the fourth story a stone finial representing the bronze pinnacle of a Chinese pagoda. It consists of a square base with a double lotus throne on it. The nine-times grooved shaft on top is an imitation of the nine bronze rings of the finial known in the architecture of China and Japan. Finally, a lotus bud on top.
