About this work

Porcelain bottle with a globular body and narrow neck, painted in underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, black, and gold. On the belly three lobed cartouches containing rocks and the 'Three Friends of Winter' (pine, bamboo, plum); around the cartouches, scrollwork with half floral rosettes above and below. The shoulder features a band with a meander pattern topped with upright, pointed leaf motifs. The rim has three hanging vines. A decorative band around the foot. Imari.
