About this work

Porcelain jug with a globular body, C-shaped handle and a small, triangular spout from the rim, painted in underglaze blue. The body is covered with 'karakusa' scrolls with three scalloped cartouches cut out. The central cartouche with two men in a landscape, one with an umbrella and a fan, the other with a closed umbrella and a small dog. To the left of this, a cartouche with cranes in a landscape with trees and rocks. The third cartouche with various birds in a landscape with a pavilion, mountains and a pond. The neck and the handle with floral scrolls. A hole in the upper side of the handle. Arita, blue and white.
