About this work

Christ carries the cross and Simon of Cyrene helps him. Soldiers scourge and mock Christ. He is followed by Mary. Behind him, the judge Pilate on his horse. On the left, one of the other criminals is led bound to Golgotha. In the background landscape, the three crosses. Below the image, two four-line verses in Latin and a reference to the biblical text in Luke 23 and Matthew 27. The print is part of an album.
