About this work
Christ carries the cross and Simon of Cyrene helps him. Soldiers scourge and mock Christ. He is followed by Mary. To the left one of the other criminals, who is being led bound to Golgotha. In the background in the landscape the three crosses. Below the scene two four-line verses in Latin and a reference to the biblical text in Luke 23 and Matt. 27.
