About this work

Alexander the Great visits the Oracle of Delphi to receive a prophecy regarding the outcome of his war against the Persians. He is told that no prophecies may be given on that day. Instead of the Pythia, the high priestess of the oracle, Alexander is shown here with a threatening gesture facing a few older men. In the background stands a statue of Apollo. Numbered 13 in the upper right. Drawing forms part of an album.
