About this work

The captured woman, Stateira I, and daughter, possibly Stateira II, of the Persian king Darius III are driven into Alexander the Great's camp. Alexander awaits the captives before his tent. Both women are weeping and each sits in her own carriage. Numbered 23 in the upper right. Drawing forms part of an album.
