About this work

Alexander the Great, followed by the hetaira Thaïs and several courtiers and women, sets the palace of Xerxes at Persepolis on fire. According to the caption, Alexander sets the palace of Darius on fire, but this does not correspond with the sources. Numbered 27 in the upper right. Drawing forms part of an album.
