About this work

A court garden. In the center of the print Bathsheba is seen bathing at a fountain. King David (upper left) sees her from his rooftop (2 Samuel 11:2). He sends a messenger (lower left) with the order to bring Bathsheba to the palace (2 Samuel 11:4). The messenger then brings the message to the still-bathing Bathsheba. A monkey (sin) and two peacocks (pride) observe the events. The print is part of an album.
