About this work

Young David plays the harp for King Saul. The harp playing drives away the evil spirit that torments Saul. He sits in a state of madness on his throne and is held by three men. To the left, at a table, a man with pince-nez glasses and a dog watch attentively. The print has a Latin inscription with verses. Bottom right the reference to the biblical book 1 Samuel 16.
